My administrative skills were mastered while working up through the ranks in a corporate setting, solving real world business issues in a fast paced environment. These opportunities in a corporate setting allowed me to develop top-notch organizational skills, learn to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and appropriately handle confidential information.
Prior to founding ADMIN at your SERVICE, I spent five years as Regional Administrative Manager and Office Administrator at Adelphia Communications Corporation in Buffalo, NY. In this diverse role, I was responsible for such tasks as the daily operation and management of the administrative office, budget preparation, commission statement generation, human resource administration, extensive document creation and analysis, oversight of the collections process and the supervision of two employees.
This position at Adelphia also supplied me with my first experience of the "virtual workplace" as I provided support and guidance for eight advertising sales offices throughout New York, Pennsylvania and Ohio. After a corporate restructuring, those sales offices numbered sixteen with the addition of the states of Maine and Massachusetts. While working on computers in Plymouth, Massachusetts from my Buffalo, NY office, and supporting many employees solely through email and phone, I became much more familiar with how a virtual assistant would function, and after a cross country move, made the natural transition to opening my own business.
My first business as a Mary Kay consultant also supplied hands on experience as I navigated the challenges of running my own business. It was a great learning tool for me as I had to learn how to give an effective sales presentation and successful tactics for closing sales, how to manage inventory and the tax implications of running a business. Hmmm, maybe I should be a Mary Kay virtual assistant! There are a lot of consultants and directors out there that could use my services!
I have also had the pleasure of working at the not-for-profit Niagara Hospice, Inc. and the chemical engineering firm Chemical Design, Inc. as an executive assistant and administrative assistant respectively. Both of these companies are located in Lockport, NY.
